Course Description
Data processing, error analysis, programming, laboratory measurements about kinematics, dynamics, conservation laws, rotation, and oscillations.Prerequisites
PHY 183 or PHY 183B or PHY 193H or PHY 231 or PHY 231C or LBS 271. Restrictions: not open to students with credit in PHY 251 or LBS 271L.Class Hours

Grading Information
Percentage weights: We have 7 experiments. Each experiment has a weight of 14% toward your grade. Each experiment consists of three parts: Theory Questions worth 10 points uploaded to Gradescope individually; Lab Report worth 40 points uploaded to Gradescope by your team; and a LON-CAPA assignment worth 10 points. We will keep all the labs.
We also have an Attitude Survey. You will take this survey twice: first at the start of the semester and then at the end of the semester. You get 1% for participation in each survey. Total: 7*14%+1%+1% = 100%.
Grading scale:
4.0 >= 92%,
3.5 >= 84%,
3.0 >= 76%,
2.5 >= 68%,
2.0 >= 60%,
1.5 >= 52%,
1.0 >= 44%,
0.0 < 44%.
This grading scale might be lowered, but it will not be raised.

Recommended textbook: John R. Taylor: An introduction to error analysis: the study of uncertainties in physical measurements, 2nd edition (1996) or 1st edition (1982). This book is available for free from the Internet Archive. On Google type in: "taylor an introduction to error analysis pdf", and follow the link on the archive.org site. Select a format and download the book.
Scientific calculator. Graphing calculators are allowed, but are not required. Recommended calculator: TI-30X IIS for $10-14.
