EUROPEAN GROUP OF CHAROPHYTE SPECIALISTS (G.E.C.): An informal association of specialists for charophyte algae (paleontologists and botanists) from European countries.
European Society for Evolutionary Biology. The objectives of the Society are to support the study of organic evolution and the integration of those scientific fields that are concerned with evolution: molecular and microbial evolution, behaviour, genetics, ecology, life histories, development, paleontology, systematics and morphology.
The Evolution of Terrestrial Ecosystems Consortium (ETE). The ETE Consortium was formed by a group of professional researchers in paleontology to oversee all aspects of the ETE Database, a computerized database (under construction) for research in evolutionary paleoecology.
The Expert Center for Taxonomic Identification (ETI). ETI is a non governmental organisation in operational relations with UNESCO. Their mission is to develop and produce scientific and educational computer aided information systems, to improve the general access to, and to promote the broad use of taxonomic and biodiversity knowledge worldwide.
Green Plant Phylogeny Research Coordination Group. Understanding the Diversity of Plants. The purpose of the "Green Plant Phylogeny Research Coordination Group" is to facilitate or initiate interaction between distinct research groups that have independent foci yet entail some aspect of green plant phylogeny or systematics.

International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT). IAPT is dedicated to organismal biodiversity the extent, recognition, organization, evolution, and naming of plants and fungi, both living and fossil.
International Association of Wood Anatomists (IAWA)
The International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS). ICS is the largest scientific body within the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). It is also the only organisation concerned with stratigraphy on a global scale. One of its major objectives are the establishment of a standard, globally applicable stratigraphic scale, which it seeks to achieve through the co-ordinated contributions of a network of subcommissions and working groups with a specific, limited mandate.
International Committee for Coal and Organic Petrology (ICCOP). The ICCP members are engaged in many different branches, fundamental and applied, of coal and organic petrology.
International Federation of Palynological Societies (IFPS). IFPS is a federation of regional, national, linguistic, and specialist palynological organizations of the world. Its goals are to advance knowledge in palynology and related subjects by promotion of international cooperation and sponsorship of regular meetings between palynologists of all countries and regions.
International "Fossil Algae" Association. The International "Fossil Algae" Association is a non-profit organization interested in promoting the study of fossil algae, e.g. taxonomy, morphology, biology, biostratigraphy, palaeo-ecology and mineralization.
International Humic Substances Society: The motto of IHSS is "To Advance the Knowledge, Research and Application of Humic Substances". For scientists with interest in humic substances in the coal, soil, and water sciences, and to provide opportunities for them to exchange ideas, skills, and viewpoints.
The International Nannoplankton Association (hosted by The Natural History Museum in London): INA is a semi-formal association of scientists worldwide who have an interest in living or fossil nannoplankton - including coccolithophores, nannoliths, and other nannofossils such as silicoflagellates and calcisphere.
International Organization for Plant Information (IOPI). IOPI manages a series of cooperative international projects that aim to create databases of plant taxonomic information.

International Organization of Plant Biosystematists
International Palaeontologial Association (I.P.A.). The aim of the I.P.A. is to promote and coordinate international cooperation in palaeontology, including palaeobotany and palaeozoology of all geological periods, and to encourage the integration and synthesis of all palaeontological knowledge.
The International Plant Taphonomy Meeting. The International Plant Taphonomy Meetings are informal workshops focusing on recent developments in the science of plant taphonomy.
International Research Group on Charophytes (IRGC). The aims of IRGC are to promote and coordinate international cooperation in charophyte research, including living and fossil material of all geological periods, and to encourage the integration and synthesis of all aspects of both botanical and paleobotanical study of charophytes. International Society of Soil Science (ISSS). The purpose of ISSS is to foster all branches of soil science and its applications, to promote contacts among scientists and other persons engaged in the study and the application of soil science, to stimulate scientific research and to further the application of soil research, for the benefit of mankind.
International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS): IUBS is a non-governmental, non-profit organization to promote the study of biological sciences; to initiate, facilitate and coordinate research and other scientific activities that require international cooperation; to ensure the discussion and dissemination of the results of cooperative research, international conferences and to assist in the publication of their reports. International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). The IUGS is one of the largest and most active non-governmental scientific organizations in the world. IUGS promotes and encourages the study of geological problems, especially those of world-wide significance, and supports and facilitates international and interdisciplinary cooperation in the earth sciences.

TSOP was established to consolidate and foster the organizational activities of scientists and engineers involved with coal petrology, kerogen petrology, organic geochemistry and related disciplines. The Systematics Association. The Systematics Association is commited to furthering all aspects of Systematic biology.
